Tennis Tips and Tricks from Armin Schmidt
#Pilzlovestennis
Dear Armin, what are the 5 aces when it comes to the right tennis equipment?
The right racket - with coordinated stringing - stable, comfortable shoes with the right outsole, functional clothing and plenty of fluids in the tennis bag to keep a cool head in high temperatures.
What are the particular advantages of the racket + string combination?
Many, even top championship players, neglect the stringing of their racket. Unfortunately, because the string is the engine for the racket! Especially in summer, at high temperatures, the string becomes dull very quickly and loses its properties. If you play regularly, I would recommend a new stringing once a month. You can have this done in all of our 14 locations within a very short time.
When it comes to the racket, it is important that the weight of the racket and the head size are right. A heavier racket often brings a clean swing and more speed with it.
What other hidden champions for "tennis hacks" come to your mind?
WHO does WHAT with WHOM... a simple tactic to perfectly adjust to your opponent right away. For example, what does a slice do with his/her forehand and how can I use this? Or... how does he react to a high spin into his backhand? Does this possibly lead to a mistake more often?
What advantages do customers have through your status as a Head Test Center?
As one of the few select companies in all of Austria, you have the opportunity to test the entire Head product range with us. You only notice the differences between rackets and stringing in practice. Our experts - my colleagues - are prepared for pretty much any question in this sector and are happy to help you find the right racket for your next match or training session at any time.
How often do you personally swing the racket?
Ideally twice a week. Since I switched from sales to the office, i.e. to purchasing, I am fortunately more flexible and it has to be at least once a week.
What surface do you prefer to play on?
In our region there are mainly clay courts, so playing on clay is more of a "home game" for me, but I also really enjoy playing on hard court when the opportunity arises.
What tricks and tips can you reveal to beginners?
A tip that helps many is that you shouldn't hold the racket too tight, otherwise you will cramp up more easily. And what I have been taught by my trainer since the first hour is that you should always end the training with a positive experience. Be it a nice serve or a good rally. This way you always like to think back to the last unit and look forward to the next one.
Thank you for the interview!
My pleasure! And good luck on the court! (smiles)
